My sister has just been told that she can work from home! Yay, but why did she have to be six months pregnant before this was an option for her?
She’s going to be able to do the job just as well from home, but it was only when her bump began to get too big to make the commute comfortable that working from home became an alternative.

As I work from home and have a boisterous four year old to deal with, I jumped at the chance to review this book for Trashionista hoping for lots of ideas and advice. I’m happy to say that I wasn’t let down.
The title and by-line ‘Inspiring Ideas for making money when you have kids’ is tackled from all angles in a practical and realistic manner. The 10 Chapters cover a wide range [Read more]

When I started working from home, the biggest reason for me doing so was that I could spend more time with my son.
I wanted the flexibility to put my work around him and being able to work what hours I liked enabled me to do this. I thought it was a big reason for others working from home as well, but new research says that this isn’t so.
The results from studies undertaken by UK Online show that greater flexibility and less time spent commuting are the biggest factors in working from home, with only 6% saying that seeing their children is the most appealing reason.
Well, it’s the Easter holidays soon and that means I’ll have a boisterous five year old running around for two weeks as well as trying to get the same amount of work done.
Ask me again what the main reason is as to why I work from home when he’s back at school and I might have a different answer!

A lot of my articles look at ways to make money online and ways to generate or boost an income from home.
I think that in any line of businesses, it’s easy to depend on one way of earning money.
I’ve gotten into the habit of depending on two or three main clients for work and I’m beginning to feel that it may be a tiny bit risky. If I had multiple streams of income, it would ease the pressure, because I know how easy it is for work to dry up. My ideal would be to have several ways of generating income on a regular basis, so that if I did struggle one month with writing commissions, it wouldn’t be the end of the world – or end of the food!
I’m going to go over a few of the different ways to set up multiple income streams [Read more]

If you spend all day in a job waiting to get home so you can crack on with your hobby, then chances are, you could probably make some money at it.
Because not all hobbies are going to be money makers, the first thing to do is to take a good look at your past time and view it from a different angle.
Think about what you are doing and how it might be profitable. Are you creating something? Providing a service? Doing an action that could offer valuable information? Does your hobby give you insider knowledge?
For the purpose of this article, I phoned up my sister and asked her what her hobby was.
My sister is four months pregnant, so much of her activities have changed in the past weeks, but one constant passion she has is ‘reading.’ Taking my sisters hobby as an example, I decided to look at if you could make money from reading. [Read more]

I just couldn’t face looking at orange any more.
So, I have given the site an uplift. It has been quite a learning curve that has given me a new kind of admiration for web designers. I’ve had to work with more HTML than I could handle as well as messing about with the CSS and trying to figure out how to put all my stuff in the correct columns. Anyhow, it’s almost there.
No doubt I’ll probably still have a few bugs every now and again but I’m really pleased with how the blogs looking and all the web creating I’m doing means that I’m learning alot, so it’s all good. And if you have a comment on my handy work, please feel free to post!

I haven’t really touched on freelancing and working for yourself yet, but this site is a good place to start.
It’s completely free to join; a great idea and I’ve had a really good experience with them.
The site acts as an online market place where you can sell your services rather than goods. So, if you want to make money or start a business, you can sign up to the site, create a profile and within minutes you are marketing your services and letting the world at large know what you are offering and for what price. You can sign up with absolutely anything; there are dog walkers, language teachers, chefs, photographers, magicians, all kinds of things.
As for my experience with the site, I signed up, created a profile and left it at that. Then a few days ago I got an email from one of moderators of the site alerting me to a copywriting job that had been posted. I didn’t realise that as well as creating a profile page for your services, people can also ‘request a service.’
I thought it was great that one of the creators of the site was alerting me to a job that I might have missed. (By the way, the copywriting job is still up there if you’re interested!)
I would recommend joining if you have a service that you might be able to sell, and if you don’t think you do have a service to market, it’s also a good site to get some inspiration!
