Creating multiple income streams

A lot of my articles  look at ways to make money online and ways to generate or boost an income from home.

I think that in any line of businesses, it’s easy to depend on one way of earning money.
I’ve gotten into the habit of depending on two or three main clients for work and I’m beginning to feel that it may be a tiny bit risky.  If I had multiple streams of income, it would ease the pressure, because I know how easy it is for work to dry up.  My ideal would be to have several ways of generating income on a regular basis, so that if I did struggle one month with writing commissions, it wouldn’t be the end of the world – or end of the food!

I’m going to go over a few of the different ways to set up multiple income streams – the one’s that I’ll be setting up, so that everything feels a little more stable.
Blog
I’ve written about starting up a blog before, but now I want to develop on how blogs can generate money on a regular basis. This blog is more than paying for itself at the moment, but I know I haven’t even begun to expand on it’s full potential.  With blogs, apart from writing content, a lot of the success depends on the marketing and this is time consuming.  However, more traffic means more money, so it’s worth the effort.

Create a product
This is something that I’m only just looking into.
With my line of work, I write a commission and then get paid, end of.  However, if I created a product, it has the ability to generate repeat payments.  Selling merchandise, a work book, a manual…so many different possibilities and lots to research, but this is certainly something I’ll be looking into this month.

eBay power seller
EBay isn’t what it used to be that’s for sure, but there’s still a way to earn money from it.
So far I have just been dabbling in this area and made a couple of hundred, but I want this to be regular and more.  I’m going to get serious about this now and up my efforts into becoming a power seller.  I realise this doesn’t offer the same level of mobility as other freelance work, but it’s nice to have on the side.

That’s it to start with.  I think the difficulty is that each of these income streams needs commitment and time to get going.  Once the initial push is over, then it won’t be so hard, but  in order to keep focused I’m going to start one at a time.
My next post will be how to market a blog and bring in more traffic.

Stumble it!
