Good news
My sister has just been told that she can work from home! Yay, but why did she have to be six months pregnant before this was an option for her?
She’s going to be able to do the job just as well from home, but it was only when her bump began to get too big to make the commute comfortable that working from home became an alternative.
I know that there are a growing number of companies who are now looking at allowing their workforce to telecommute, I just don’t get why the move is only happening now, and, from the amount of people who contact me wanting to find that elusive work from home job, it seems to be happening very slowly.
Decentralising business has huge benefits – it cuts down overheads, improves staff morale and research has shown that it increases productivity. I realise that working from home isn’t for everyone, but it makes me a little mad that you have to have a myriad of reasons within some companies for it to be an option! However, if you do your job well with little supervision it should be possible for you do telecommute - you just have to convince your boss.
