Just call me Simon

Just done my first bit of scouting over at Slice the Pie where the scouting rooms are now open.
It was a lot of fun and I can see how this can become seriously addictive!
You have to listen to a minute of the song before you are allowed to submit your review and I thought this was going to be too long and I’d be counting down the seconds, in fact it was too short.

First off, I had some folk number, music I don’t normally listen to. I was typing down my review as it played, and before I knew it the song was nearly over – think I’m trying to be Simon Cowell a little bit too much!
Then I had some terrible hip-hop type track which sounded like it had been recorded in a public toilet. I had a hard time giving that one a review as I could only imagine what the band must be thinking when they read, “This song is so monotonous I almost fell asleep.” So didn’t put that, instead I put “Needs more to carry the vocals.”A few more tracks and I was really into the whole scouting thing, phrases about the ‘musical arrangement’ and ‘rhythmic beat’ were pouring from my keyboard, so I can see I’m going to have to watch how much time I spend on this website because after all the reviewing, I made a grand total of 50p.

This is very much a site for fun and not for money, still, some people are making a bit from it. The top reviewer is MissPixieRocktastic and the more tracks you review, the more you earn, so where as I’m getting paid 2p for every track I listen to Miss Pixie is getting 10p. Not a fortune, agreed, but I suppose it is a way to earn some pennies whilst having fun and getting to behave like an X Factor judge.

Stumble it!
