Flexible Working Life

Inspiration for the freelancer and free thinker

A blog about finding work that doesn't feel like it and loving every minute of life.

Why do you work from home?

When I started working from home, the biggest reason for me doing so was that I could spend more time with my son.

I wanted the flexibility to put my work around him and being able to work what hours I liked enabled me to do this.  I thought it was a big reason for others working from home as well, but new research says that this isn’t so.

The results from studies undertaken by UK Online show that greater flexibility and less time spent commuting are the biggest factors in working from home, with only 6% saying that seeing their children is the most appealing reason.

Well, it’s the Easter holidays soon and that means I’ll have a boisterous five year old running around for two weeks as well as trying to get the same amount of work done.

Ask me again what the main reason is as to why I work from home when he’s back at school and I might have a different answer! :)
